At pen gals, your safety is our top priority. We want you to build meaningful, fun connections while ensuring your privacy and security. Please follow these important safety tips and guidelines as you participate in our community and find your next pen pal.

1. Protect Your Privacy
 
  • Use a P.O. Box: Whenever possible, we highly recommend using a P.O. Box when sharing your mailing address. This adds an extra layer of privacy, keeping your home address secure.
  • Understanding Limitations: We understand that not everyone has access to a P.O. Box or may not want to pay for one. If you choose to use your physical address, please be aware that random people will know where you live. This is at your discretion, but we recommend building a strong rapport with your pen pal within the pen gals membership. Exchange a few messages through the platform to establish trust before sharing your personal address.
  • Delay Sharing Your Address: Don’t rush to give out your physical address. Take the time to get to know your pen pal, exchange meaningful conversations, share your letter of art in our pen gal membership forum together, and ensure you feel comfortable.
     
2. Safety Guidelines for Pen Pals
 
  • Build Trust First: As with any friendship, it’s important to build trust over time. Keep your conversations within the platform at first and only move to physical mail exchanges when you feel safe.
  • Keep Initial Conversations Within the Platform: The pen gals platform is monitored to help keep our members safe. It’s best to keep all early conversations here before moving to any other form of communication
  • โ€‹Report Suspicious Behavior: If a pen pal makes you feel uneasy or you notice something off, please report it to our support team immediately. We take all reports seriously and will act quickly to ensure the community stays safe.
     
3. The Guardian Gal Membership

For members concerned about privacy or safety, we offer the Guardian Gal Membership. This top-tier membership pairs you with one of our trusted pen gals staff members as your pen pal, ensuring you have a safe and monitored experience. You’ll enjoy all the benefits of pen pal correspondence with the added security of knowing you're interacting with one of our trained team members.

4. Boundaries and Consent
 
  • Respect Boundaries: Every pen pal relationship is unique, and it’s essential to respect the other person’s boundaries. Communicate openly about your comfort levels, and if either of you prefers not to share certain information, respect that.
  • No Pressuring for Personal Info: It's important not to rush or pressure your pen pal into sharing personal details. Focus on building a friendship first, and only share information when both parties feel comfortable.
     
5. Women-Only Community

pen gals is a women-only platform to ensure a safe and supportive environment. No men are allowed to join. If you come across any suspicious profiles or individuals, please report them immediately.

6. Tips for Staying Safe
 
  • Start with a Nickname or Alias: Use a nickname or alias in your initial conversations to protect your identity until you feel comfortable.
  • Don’t Share Financial Information: Never give out bank details, credit card numbers, or any other financial information to your pen pal.
  • Trust your instincts and avoid sharing too much too soon.
